Shadow Yoga Fundamentals Workshop:
In this workshop, Andy covers the fundamental movements and principles of Shadow Yoga, including the Dasa Carana (ten turnings or warm-ups) and Jiva Calana (churning of the individual). These simple movements open and loosen the body setting up the foundation for balancing, foot work, and body awareness necessary for Yoga. In addition, he will cover basic asana, and breathing from a Shadow Yoga perspective.
Shadow Yoga provides a view of Yoga with principles universal to all forms – this is a unique opportunity to look at your practice from a new perspective.

Karttikeya Mandala Prelude:
Karttikeya Mandala, translated as “Garland of Lights”, is the third prelude of the Shadow Yoga school. It is a powerful practice and preparation for deep asana work. Consisting of coordinated spiraling movements and rooted stance work, the prelude enhances the practitioner’s sensitivity of the peripheral body and the ability to withdraw its energy and the mind inward. In addition to the prelude, Primary Asanas will be introduced in this workshop giving participants a Shadow Yoga practice to take home. All levels are welcome.

Shadow Yoga Demonstration and Class:
Join us for a special demonstration of Shadow Yoga by Andy Matinog. The culmination of a lifetime of intense research and practice by master teacher, Zhander Remete, Shadow Yoga is a powerful school of Hatha Yoga that emphasizes patient cultivation of the student’s practice and understanding of yoga. It is taught through three preludes, or forms, that comes from the meeting place of Sacred Dance, Martial Arts and Yoga. It is a beautiful form to watch and to practice. Andy will give a demonstration of the preludes and share his experiences with this practice.
Shadow Yoga
Each of us has a tremendous source of power that is habitually bound in hiding our perceived weaknesses, contracting us in physical and mental patterns. Using the body as a vehicle to examine these patterns, one learns to recognize and release this conditioning through the process of Yoga.Shadow Yoga is a highly effective school of Hatha Yoga that safely guides the aspirant through the process of finding their natural state.
Andy Matinog
Andy Matinog is a long time student and teacher of Yoga, having taken his first classes in 1991. He took his first Shadow Yoga class in 2001 and has been hooked ever since. He is one of a handful of teachers in the USA listed on shadowyoga.com and is also authorized to teach the 8 Palms of the Nrtta Sadhana.
